If a person consumes 5.4x10^5 kcal in a day and one barrel of old can produce 3.7x10^6 kcal, what is the equivalent of energy consumed per year by that person in terms of barrels of oil?

The person consumes

5.4x10^5 kcal / 3.7x10^6 kcal = 1.459 x 10-1   =  about .1459 barrels per day

So

365 x .1459 =  about 53.2535 barrels per year
