In a right triangle, if the adjacent side has value -3 and the hypotenuse has value 4, the opposite side has value √(16 - 9)  =  √7.

Since the cos has a negative value, it must lie in either the second or the third quadrant.

In the second quadrant, the opposite side has value √7 while in the third quadrant, the opposite side has value -√7.

csc = hyp/opp   cot = adj/opp

In quadrant II, csc = 4/√7  and  cot = -3/√7

In quadrant III, csc = 4/-√7 = -4/√7  and  cot = -3/-√7 = 3/√7.
