a + b=35, 5a =b + 25, solve for a,b

a = 10 and b = 25

If the sum of two numbers is 35, and 5 times the smaller is 25 more than the larger, find the number.

\(x+y=35\\5x=y+25\\35-x=5x-25\\6x=35+25\\x=\frac{60}{6}\\x=10\)

\(x+y=35\\10+y=35\\y=35-10\\y=25\)
