If the system of equations\(\begin{align*}2x-y&=a,\\3y-6x &=b.\end{align*}\)has a solution, find a/b, assuming b is not 0.

2x  -  y   =    a   ⇒   6x - 3y  =  3a   (1)

3y - 6x    =  b        (2)

Adding (1)  and (2)   we get that

0   =  3a +  b

-3a  =  b

So

a / b   =

a  /  (-3a  )   =

- 1/ 3
