If we have (x-1/2)^2 -13.75=0 how much will x be?

(x-1/2)^2 -13.75 = 0   add 13.75 to both sides

(x - 1/2)^2  = 13.75      using the square root property we have

x - 1/2  = ±√13.75        add 1/2 to both sides

x = ±√13.75 + 1/2   =   about   4.208  or about -3.208
