if (x -5) to the second power + (y + 2)to the second power = 64 what is the radius

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So we have (x - 5)2 + (y + 2)2 = 64

The general equation of a circle is

(x - h)2 + (y - k)2 = r2      Where the center is (h,k) and r is the radius.

So, in our question, r2 = 64

Taking the (positive) square root of both sides, we have

r = 8
