Thanks Quentin, but you need to add some working or the asker cannot learn anything.

if y=x^2+2x-3, what is y when x=-4?

$$\\y=(-4)^2+2*(-4)-3\\
y=16+-8-3\\
y=16-8-3\\
y=5$$

After simplifying, y=5
