In a Magic game earlier this season, Nic Vucevic made 9 shots, each either being 2 pointers or 3 pointers. He scored 21 points total.

1, Write a system of equations that will allow you to find how many of each type of shot he made (Define what each variable means).

2. Solve the system by graphing, determining how many of each shot he made (DO NOT USE DESMOS)

Call x the number of 2 pointers he made and y the number of 3 pointers he made.....and we have...

x + y  = 9   → y = 9 -x      (1)

2x  +   3y  = 21      (2)

Subbing (1)  into (2)  for y, we have

2x + 3[9 - x]  = 21   simplify

2x + 27 - 3x  =  21

-1x + 27  = 21    subtract 27 from both sides

-1x  =  -6      divide both sides by -1

x = 6        and y  = 9 - 6    = 3

So.....he made   6 two pointers and 3 three pointers

Here's the Desmos Graph anyway......you can work around it....!!!
