In ΔUVW, u = 5.8 inches, ∠W=77 and ∠U=87. Find the length of v, to the nearest 10th of an inch.

My plan is to use the Law of Sines.

 

First, I must find the size of angle V:  180^o - 87^o - 77^o  =  16^o.

 

Now, the Law of Sines:  v / sin(V)  =  u / sin(U)

                                      v / sin(16)  =  5.8 / sin(87)

                                                    v  =  5.8 / sin(87) x sin(16)

                                                    v  =  1.6"
