Hi,
I need some help understanding inequalities.
x^2 + x -2 < 0
Gives
x-1 - gives zero at 1
x+2 -Gives zero at -2
(x-1)(x+2) Gives zero at -2 and 1
I dont understand the part that explains numbers below -2 give positives. Numbers between -2 and 1 give negatives, and numbers above 1 give positives.
Also can the answer -2 < x < 1 be explained?
Thank you.
** Also can the answer -2 < x < 1 be explained?
ok you must understand this before you can possible understand the other bit.
This means that x has to be between -2 and +1
If you graphed it it would look like this
This might help too

There are a lot of sites that will help you to understand this.
I just googled
