Define $f(x)=3x-8$. If $f^{-1}$ is the inverse of $f$, find the value(s) of $x$ for which $f(x)=f^{-1}(x)$.

Find the inverse.....

x = 3y-8        y = (x+8) / 3    this is the inverse.....equate it to the original and solve fo x

(x+8) / 3   =  3x-8       Now solve for 'x' to find the value(s) where   f(x) = f-1 (x)
