What is the math behind this? math needs to work up/down - left to right - right to left

all numbers shown on top are given. but with bigger numbers. bottom is what is needed

? - 3 + ?

6 - 2 + 4

? - 1 + ?

11 - 3 + 8

6 - 2 + 4

5 - 1 + 4

#1**+3 **

Should this be:

? - 3 = ?

-(6 - 2 = 4)

---------------

? - 1 = ?

If so, rewrite as:

a - 3 = b

-(6 - 2 = 4)

--------------

c - 1 = d

In this case there are an infinite number of solutions!

We have four equations:

a - 3 = b

a - 6 = c

c - 1 = d

b - 4 = d

These are satisfied by

a = 7 + p, b = 4 + p, c = 1 + p, d = p where p is any number

So for example, if p = 0, then a = 7, b = 4, c = 1 and d = 0

If p = 4, then a = 11, b = 8, c = 5 and d = 4

etc.
