Jackson uses the Fermi process to estimate the number of buckets of gravel he could store in a warehouse. The buckets are shaped like cylinders. The warehouse is shaped like a rectangular prism.

He estimates the buckets have a height of 25 in. and a diameter of 20 in.

He estimates the warehouse is 300 ft wide, 150 ft long, and 10 ft high.

Which expression should Jackson use in the process?

8×10^8/8×10^3

5×10^7/8×10^4

5×10^6/8×10^3

8×10^9/8×10^4

(8×10^8)/(8×10^3) is how it should be written.

After converting the ft to in, you get about 8 x10^8 in.

The you would divide that by the bucket which is H*Pi*r^2, R being half the D,

Which is about 8x10^3 in.
