Janet spent 15 hours reading a 1,200 page book. How many pages did Janet read per minute?
Let's first calculate the number of minutes in 15 hrs. We have.....
15 * 60 = 900 minutes
So ...... (Total Pages) / (Total Minutes) = Pages Per Minute
(1200)/(900) = 12/9 = 4/3 = 1+1/3 pages per minute........
To check this, note that ...Total Minutes * Pages Per Minute = Total Pages .....thus.... 900 * (4/3) = 3600/3 = 1200
I belive this is how you would solve this.
So first convert 15hrs to minutes 15*60=900
So in 900 minutes she read 1200 pages - 1200/900 = 4/3 - 1.34 Hope this helps!

I liked your answer Rose!
Perhaps CPhill did not realise it was correct because you have those extra dashes in there that look like minus signs.
You need to be very careful with your notation.
Plus I think you should have written pages per minute at the end even though this was implied.
You should always add the units.
