If he has n friends then and they each eat a fraction, f, of the pizza then n*f + (5/4)*f = 1 so

f = 1/(n + 5/4)

You need to specify the number of friends to get any further!

Hi Bane of Dracula and welcome to the forum :)

Do you know how many friends John is sharing with or is that meant to be a part of the confusion?
