john bought flowers for his mom.he received $5.43 in change. he paired $1.12 in sales tax. The flowers were 50% off their original price. If he paid with a $20 bill, what is the original price of the flowers?

Without the sales tax being added, he would have received $5.43 + $1.12 = $6.55 back.

Then, the sale price of the flowers - without the added tax - must have been $20 - $6.55 = $13.45.  And since this was 50% of their original cost, the original cost must have been twice this much = $26.90.
