When Kate was born, her older brother was 4 less than 1/4 of her mother's age. 8 years later,
her mother was 5 less than 3 times her brother's age. How old is Kate's brother now? Thanks for help.

M = 4B + 4
M+8 = 3(B+8) - 5 -> M+8 = 3B+24-5 -> M = 3B + 11
4B + 4 = 3B + 11
B = 7
B+8 = 15

Let Kate's mother's age when she was born==M
Let her brother's age when she was born ==B
Her brother's age: B =1/4M - 4
8 years later, Kate's mother was M+8==4B + 4 + 8.........(1)
Her brother's age was:
B+8 ==1/3[M+5+8]..........................(2), solve for M, B
B==7 years - when Kate was born
M==32 years - when Kate was born.
7 + 8==15 years - her brother's age now
32 + 8 ==40 years - her mother's age now.
