Let f be a function such that f(x+y) = x + f(y) for any two real numbers x and y. If f(0) = 2, then what is f(2012)?

I just realised that I could have done this more easily

f(2012+0)=2012+f(0)

f(2012)=2012+2

f(2012)=2014

Umm Interesting

What if x=-2012 and y=2012

f(-2012+2012)=-2012+f(2012)=2

so

-2012+f(2012)=2

f(2012)=2+2012=2014

I think that is it :)

Thanks Chris.

I had to think about it for a while myself.

You can get some really weird questions that are like this one!
