Since Linda arrived at 12:35pm and left at 8:50am, her flight was:

12:35 - 8:50=3:45 hours, which was Linda's flight. Note that usual subtraction doesn't work here, so we use "clock arithmetic".

Since it took her another half an hour to get home, so we just add arrival time plus 30 minutes=12:35 + 30=1:05pm, when Linda arrives home.

Note: You could do ordinary subtraction but have to convert the minutes into decimals by dividing them by 60. So 12:35 becomes 12 +35/60=12.5833 - 8 + 50/60=8.8333=3.75.But since an hour has 60 minutes, then .75 X 60=45 minutes.
