Line BE and lineCF are angle bisectors of triangle ABC that meet at I as shown below, and we have CE = 4, AE = 6, and AB = 8. Find BC.

The angle bisector of B  sets up the following ratio :

 

BC / AB   =  CE / AE

 

BC / 8  =  4 / 6       multiply both sides by 8

 

BC  =   8 * 4  / 6     =    32 / 6   =   16 / 3
