If 5 = –4b + 5 and 3a = –2b + 3 + 6b, what is b?
consider only the first equation 5 = –4b + 5
subtract 5 from both sides and you have –4b = 0 therefore b = 0
what about that other equation . . . plug zero in for instances of b
3a = –2b + 3 + 6b
3a = 0 + 3 + 0 and a = 1
