2/5(x-1) + 5/2(x+2) = 3/2(x-2)

What is the solution for x

So, since it's linear, I assume we have

(2/5)(x-1) + (5/2)(x+2) = (3/2)(x-2)

Let's multiply through by the LCM of 2 and 5 (i.e., 10) to clear the fractions...this gives

4(x-1) + 25(x + 2)  = 15(x-2)          simplify

4x - 4 + 25x + 50  = 15x - 30          combine like terms

29x + 46 = 15x - 30          subtract 46 from both sides and subtract 15x from both sides

14x = -76                                  divide both sides by 14

x = -76/14  = -38/7
