lisa has $7.80 to spent on some tomatoes and alot of loaf bread . Tomatoes cost  $1.20 per pound , and a loaf of bread  cost $1.80

the ineqality 1.20x+ 1.80 < 7.80 models this situation , where x is the number of pounds of tomatoes

how many pounds of tomatoes  can lisa buy ?

A. x > 8;lisa can buy 8 pounds or more of tomatoes.

B. x < 8 lisa can buy 8 pounds or less or tomatoes.

C.x > 5; lisa can buy 5 popunds or more of tomatoes.

D: x<5; lisa can buy 5 pounds or less  of tomatoes.

.20x + 1.80 < 7.80       subtract  1.80 from both sides

1.20x < 6.00      divide both sides by  1.20

x < 5   ⇒   D

[ The only thing strange here is that if she has   7.80.....she sould be able to buy EXACTLY 5 lbs. of tomatoes !!!]
