I am trying to solve a problem with loan payments. my book shows a > symbol but pointed up. Do you know what that means?

The symbol is ^. I am trying to solve this problem. ^(-12x10)=
The book is saying the answer is 0.592062695 but I can not figure out how they got it. thx

It means ' to the power of '

On a calculator it could be a ^ symbol or it might be a x

for your problem, you need a number in front of the ^ symbol or it doesn't make sense.
