\(log\) means logarithm, which is basically a way to do inverse exponents. For example, \(\log_{3}{9} = x\) means \(3^x=9\)

"Log" is another word for "exponent" or "power". Example: what is Log of 100 to base 10? It is 2. Because: 10^2=100.
