first you have to use the identity that says
log(a) + log(b) = log(ab)

so you get

log(x(x+3)) = 1

Now I am going to assume that it is base 10

10 log(x(x+3)) =10 1

[ The 10 log cancel each other out ]

x(x+3)=1
etc
