Let Lou's be 2x

And let Sherry's amount be x - 11

And together they all have $89....so....

x + 2x + x - 11  = 89    simplify

4x - 11  = 89     add 11 to both sides

4x = 100    divide by 4 on both sides

x = 25

And Lou has 2x = 2(25)  = $50
