Horatio wants Guildenstern to stop going through his phone. Guildenstern has agreed to do so if the last two digits of the next phone number he pulls up form a number that is greater than 49.

Is this a fair method for Guildenstern to decide to stop flipping the coin? Why or why not

Hi Shaniab :)

Well I think that Guildenstein should stop going into Horatio's phone and that there should be no bet!!! LOL

When will  the last 2 digits be greater than 49

Well, the second last digit can be 5,6,7,8 or 9    That is 5 choices

and the last digit can be anything at all.

P(last 2 digits are great than 49)= (5/10)*1 = 0.5

So yes this has the same odds as a fair coin toss.

Does that answer the question?

no because  it is a Multiple  choice question ia m so sorry i left that out i feel awful

  1. It is a fair method because it leaves things up to chance.
  2. It is a fair method because there is a 50% chance that the number will be over 49.
  3. It is not a fair method because he has already gone through several numbers that will not appear again.
