the mass of 6.02 x 10(23) atoms of carbon is 12 grams. calculate the mass of 1 atom of cabon

6.02 X 10^23 atoms in 12 grams of Carbon, therefore,

(6.02 X 10^23) /12=5.02 X 10^22 atoms in 1 gram of Carbon,

1/(5.02 X 10^22)   =1.993 X 10^-23 grams-the mass of 1 atom of Carbon 12.

Or, more directly: divide 12 grams by the number of atoms, which is the same thing:

12/(6.02 X 10^23)=1.993 X 10^-23 grams, the mass of 1 atom of Carbon 12.
