3x = radio price

 

x + 3x = $ 24

x = 6

 

toy = 6    radio = 18      difference = $ 12

Let t = toy

 

We have r+t=24 (1)

We also have r = 3t (2)

(2) into (1) => 4t = 24

t=6 (3)

(3) into (2) => r = 18 (4)

|(4)-(3)| = |18-6| = 12 dollars
