a.

tan (45°)  = 1

sec (45°)  =  √2

So    tan^2 (45°) =  1^2  = 1

And  sec^2(45°)  =  ( √2 ) ^2  = 2

So

tan^2 (45°)  + 1  =  sec^2(45°)

1    +   1   =   2

Sorry.....I don't understand what's being asked for in "b"
