x=Expert

1/4x = Speedy

.1(x + 1/4x) = passport

All added together = 484   then solve for 'x'

x + 1/4x +.1(x+1/4x) = 484

5/4x +.1x + .025x = 484

x=352

1/4x=88

passport=44

1. Leonardo will pay $484 to three different credit cards: Expert Card, Passport, and US Speedy. He will pay four times as much to Expert Card as US Speedy since it has a higher balance. He also expects the Passport payment to be only 10% of the total of the other payments. How much will Leonardo pay towards the Passport credit card balance?

Let the payment to US Speedy be P........then the payment to Expert Car will be four ties as much = 4P

Note that the total payments to these two  = P + 4P  = 5P

And he pays only 10% of this to Passport =  .10 (5P)  = .5P

So....the total amount he will pay  =  5P + .5P    =  5.5P      ...  and we have that ....

5.5P = 484    divide both sides by 5.5

P = $88   this is the amount to US Speedy......and the amount he pays Passport  = .5P  = .5(88)  = $44

How much will Leonardo pay towards the Passport credit card balance?
