Lickety split ice cream comes in a cylindrical container w/ diam. of 6in and height of 10in. The company claims to give the customers 25 scoops of ice cream to the customer, each scoop being a 3in radius sphere. How many scoops does a container actually hold?
The volume of the container = pi * (3 in)^2 *( 10 in) = 90 pi in^3
The volume of each scoop = (4/3)pi (3)^3 = 36 pi in^3
So....the number of scoops in each container = [90 pi in^3] / [36 pi in^3] = 90/36 = 2.5 scoops per container [ llooks like the company is overstating their claim by a factor of 10 !!! ]
