There are twenty-two more chickens than cows. The number of cows and chickens combined is 98. How many are chickens?
Cows = C
Chickens = C + 22
C + (C + 22) = 98
2C + 22 = 98
2C = 98 - 22
2C = 76
C = 76 / 2 = 38 =number of cows
c + 28 = 38 + 22 = 60 = number of chickens
I got the same thing, see my answer below!
This gives us that 2c (c=cows) + 22= 98
So, 76 = 2c
c = 38
To have the number be the number of chickens instead of cows, we add 22+38. This gives us that there are 60 chickens.
