The rule sin(x)/cos(x) = tan(x), does that apply for sin^2(x)/cos^2(x)?

Hello,

$$\frac{sin(x)}{cos(x)}=tan(x)$$

$$\frac{sin^2(x)}{cos^2(x)}=??$$

It isn't  $$tan(x)$$

It is $$tan^2(x)$$

Actually, there is a rule for these which is (If you noticed a pattern):

$$\frac{sin^n(x)}{cos^n(x)}=tan^n(x)$$

so we can say that:

$$\frac{sin^{100}(x)}{cos^{100}(x)}=tan^{100}(x)$$
