If two lines l and m have equations y = -x + 6, and y = -2x + 6, what is the probability that a point randomly selected in the 1st quadrant and below l will fall between l and m? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest hundredth.

I would suggest graphing the lines as below.

 

Then find the are below line L      1/2 b * h        ( 18 units2 )

   Find the area below line M        1/2 b * h         (9 units2 )

        so the area between them is 1/2 of the area below line L       Probability is thus 1/2  = .50
