2x + 2y = 10 (2)
Sub (1) into (2)
7 - 1y + 2y = 10 simplify
7 + y = 10 subtract 7 from both sides
y = 3
Sub this into (1) to solve for x
2x = 7 - 1(3)
2x = 4
x = 2
