   the height of a trapizoid is 8inches. and the area of the trapizoid is 64inches.     

   one base of the trapiziod is 6inches longer than the other base. what are the lengths of both bases     

 

   [average of bases] • height  =  Area     

   [(b + b + 6) / 2 ] • 8  =  64     

   [(b + b + 6) / 2 ]       =    8     

     2b + 6  =  16     

     2b = 10     

       b₁  =  5             one base is 5     

       b₂  =  5 + 6     

       b₂  =  11           the other base is 11
