A triangular pyramid has a slant height of 0.75 foot. The equilateral triangular base has a perimeter of 1.2 feet and an area of about 0.07 square foot. Find the approximate surface area.

Assuming that we're not interested in the area of the base.......

 

The faces of the pyramid are 3 triangles each having a base of 1.2 / 3  = .4 ft

 

So......the surface area =

 

3 * (1/2) (base of each triangle) (slant height of each triangle)  =

 

(3/2) ( .4) (.75)   = 0.45 sq ft
