what are the rules to slove -1/4-(-2)?

Minus a negative number is same as plus the corresponding positive number

i.e. a- (-b) = a + b

 

Addition is commutative. i.e. -a + b = b - a

Also use PEDMAS or BODMAS(whatever you call it.)

\(-\frac{1}{4}-(-2)\\ = -\frac{1}{4}+2\\ = 2-\frac{1}{4}\\ = 1\frac{3}{4}\)
