4x^2=-8x-3   rearrange as

4x^2 + 8x + 3  = 0

(2x + 3) (2x + 1)  = 0

Set  each factor to 0

2x + 3  = 0                                                      2x + 1  = 0

subtract 3 from both sides                         subtract 1 from both sides

2x  = -3                                                         2x  = -1

divide both sides by 2                                  divide both sides by 2

x = -3/2                        or                                x = -1/2

cool cool cool
