George had $120 to buy new baseball equipment. He spent a third his money on a glove, a fourth of his money on a bat, a sixth of his money on a cap and the remaining money on baseballs. How much money did he spend on each item?
1/3 * 120 = 40
1/4 * 120 = 30
1/6 * 120 = 20
1-(1/3 + 1/4 + 1/6) = 1 - (9/12)=1/4
1/4 * 120 = 30
George had $120 to buy new baseball.
Money spent on glove = 1/3 (120)40 = 40
Moeny spent on bat = 1/4 (120)30 = 30
Money spent on cap = 1/6 (120)20 = 20
∴ Remaining money on basketball = 120 - (40 + 30 + 20)
= 120 - 90
Remaining money on baseballs = $30
