You actually don't need two points in this case; you just need to rewrite the equation in point-slope form, y=mx+b

m would be the slope.

3x+y=4
Just subtract 3x from both sides:
y=-3x+4

So the slope would be -3.

As a side note, lol's way would work if you had two points that were part of a line:)
