Andi needs 5 1/2 yards of fabric for a project. She  has a piece that is  3 1/4 yards at school and a piece that is 1 1/2 yards at home.  How much more fabric does she need?

The first step is to find out how much fabric she has.

We can convert to decimal.

3 1/4 = 3.25

1 1/2 = 1.5

3.25 + 1.5 = 4.75

5 1/2 = 5.5

5.5 - 4.75 = 0.75

She still needs 3/4 yards of fabric.

I hope this helped.
