I assume the last two numbers are 21 and 24:

You add them all up: 14+17+21+24=76, then divide this number by 4, since you have four numbers:

76/4=19 this is the "mean" of the four numbers.

The median is the middle number when the numbers are arranged in order:  14, 17, 21, 24.

Since there is an even number of numbers, find the number halfways between the two middle numbers.

Halfway between 17 and 21  is  (17 + 21)/2  =  38/2  = 19.

So, the median of this set of numbers is 19.
