Consider:

Perimeter = 2L + 2W

 

Set Up:

"The length of a rectangle is five meters less than twice the width​"

L = 2W - 5

 

Equation: 44 = 2L + 2W

 

Now solve!

 

Using this method, you can solve the rest.
