a square hall has a rug and anuncarpented area of tile floor bordiringit that is 2 ft on each side.what is the area of the carpet if the uncarped area is 152 ft

first find the square root of that area given..

√152 = 12.3288280059379529
= 12. 3288 ft

This will be the length of one side of the square of the uncarpeted floor.
Now, since the length between the mat and the uncarpeted floor is 2ft, you will subtract this from the length we got above..

12.3288 ft - 2ft

to get

10.3288 ft.

Subsequently, the area of the carpet will be

10.3288 ft x 10.3288 ft

to get

106.68410944 sq. ft.
