Simone claims the initial value and y-intercept are the same thing on a graph. Is she correct?

Nope.

Take $y=x\{x\ge -1\}$, the initial value is $-1$ and the y-intercept is $0$.

The idea is to counter the misconception that "All graphs start at $x=0$".

If the graph starts at x = 0     she is correct
