so 9 x 4 or 9+9+9+9 is 36
and 36 - 5 is 31
note- multiplication and divison are on the same level technically so for example you have 3/1 x 4 you would use division first. you just go from left to right
its the same way for addition and subtraction. ex. 3-1+4=6
