so with 1/4+1 1/2 you have to make 1 1/2 a fraction which would be 3/2 so now you have the equation 1/4 + 3/2 now you have to find the common denominator which is 4 so now you have 1/4 + 6/4 then you add the numerators of both of the fractions to get 7/4 then you would reduce the fraction to 1 3/4
